Description
Aeonium arboreum ‘Atropurpureum’
Large growing Aeonium which will eventually grow and branch into a tall tree like plant with stunning dark purple/black rosettes.
New leaves are green and leaves will turn green in low light, but they will develop a dark red/purple/black colour in strong sunlight.
Young plant in an 11cm terracotta clay pot
The plants are approx 16cm across and 16cm tall.
Plant Details and Care
Large rosettes on tall branching stems, to form a small tree. The leaves will turn green in low light but develop a dark red/purple/black colour in strong sunlight.
Size: Can grow to 3 ft or more, but can be pruned to reduce size.
Leaves: Purple/red/black leaves, will turn green in low sunlight, young growth is green.
Flowers: Yellow flowers.
Growing site: Indoors in a conservatory or large sunny windowsill, or outdoors in a pot.
Hardiness: Not hardy in the UK. May be grown outside in the summer, but will need winter protection.
Toxicity: Aeonium arboreum ‘Atropurpureum’ is not thought to be toxic.
